Hey everyone!
So this week is the ever-terrifying finals week (cue the horror movie music). Though I’m seriously dreading my final exams, I’ve been looking back on this semester and can’t believe the first half of my senior year is almost over! The closer I get to the end of my time at NDMU, the sadder I become! I've come to really appreciate the school traditions this semester, because I've realized this will be the last time I get to experience most of them!
Last Thursday was the Christmas Dinner at Notre Dame, one of my favorite traditions. The students come all dressed up and our favorite faculty and staff members serve us dinner and give us each a little Christmas present! We all wear Santa hats and reindeer antlers, and after we finish eating we all sing Christmas carols together! My favorite part is when we sing the 12 Days of Christmas. Each table is assigned which of the 12 days they are supposed to stand up and sing (my table this year had the 6th, 8th, 11th and 12th days). Every time our verse came up we had to stand up, sing it and act it out (we had a bit of trouble acting out the 6 geese a laying haha). The tables with the 5 gold rings are always hilarious. It's a great opportunity for our whole community to come together and celebrate the holidays. Even our President, Dr. Conneely, comes out for the event to spend time with the students, faculty, and staff! My friends and I got a picture with him:
This past Sunday was the Fall Fundraiser for the Athletic Department here at Notre Dame. As President of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), I am one of the students in charge of the event since a large portion of the proceeds are going towards our SAAC team for the Polar Bear Plunge. The Fall Fundraiser is great because it brings together all our athletic department staff, athletes, coaches, friends and family. We get to watch the Ravens' game together on a huge screen and have an all-you-can-eat tailgate buffet! It was a lot of fun, even though the Ravens lost :(.
Well as you can see, there is always a LOT going on on campus here at NDMU, so I will do my best to keep you guys updated! If I survive finals week, I’ll let you know how it went at the end of the week!
